The design inspiration for Taoyuan Town is deeply rooted in the idyllic life of the middle class. The project aims to depict an ideal lifestyle that coexists and progresses with the rising super new area of Hangzhou Future Sci-Tech City. The energy of the future continuously influences the life atmosphere and potential possibilities of this residential development.
What sets Taoyuan Town apart from other residential projects is its tactful public space system. The design forms a Chinese classical garden-like landscape through the transition of gardens, streets, and courtyards. The project features large private gardens and an integration of buildings and gardens, positioning itself as an upscale Chinese-style residential development catering to those who pursue Chinese traditional culture and a quality life.
The realization of this design heavily relies on the use of natural materials such as solid wood and stone. Chinese classical details, such as corridors, columns, arches, hangings, purlins, and rafters, are all made of logs. To enhance the quality of the building, the entrance and the second-floor walls are clad in dry-hanging stones rather than paint. These stones are elaborately carved and endowed with Chinese-style textures.
One of the challenges faced in the design process was dealing with the relationship among architecture, environment, and users in the most appropriate way. The optimized house type stresses the interaction between courtyard and building and the introduction of landscape into the interiors. The fence is artfully designed to ensure high privacy for each household.
The project interprets a generation process of classic Chinese garden, drawing on advantages of Greentown's Chinese-style villas like Yunqi Rose Garden and Jiang Nan Li, so as to present the best effect. Architectural details including roof, eave, door and window, upturned roof corner, etc., are elaborately designed to realize a harmonious scale. The whole building enjoys delicate detailed parts, well echoing the classic Chinese gardens.
This design was awarded Silver in A' Construction and Real Estate Projects Design Award in 2021. The award is a testament to the project's outstanding expertise and innovation, strong technical characteristics, and splendid artistic skill. It showcases a remarkable level of excellence and introduces positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
